6th Annual PSGC Golf Outing

In June, Prairie State hosted its 6th Annual Employee Golf Outing and Scholarship Fundraiser at the Roland Barkau Memorial Golf Course. Employees enjoyed an afternoon of golf, and raised $7,000 for Prairie State’s Scholarship Program. Congratulations to all of our winners, and thanks to all who made this year’s golf outing a success! Prairie State’s Mine Rescue Team Competes in Alabama Contest

In May, Prairie State’s Lively Grove Mine Rescue Team competed in the 43rd annual Alabama State mine rescue contest. This was a two-day mine rescue contest held at Bevill State Community College in Summinton, Alabama. Trophies were given for the top three places in the preshift, first aid, and bench contests. Employee Advanced Firefighting Training

Last Friday, a group of Prairie State miners completed advanced firefighting training at Southeastern Illinois College (SIC).  In the coming weeks, all Prairie State mine employees will complete this training.  This effort goes above and beyond the fire extinguisher training required by the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
