Thank you for your interest in Prairie State!

Communication is an essential element to any well-run organization, and that starts with our hiring process, where we look to add the best professionals in the industry to our team.

Here’s what you can expect when applying to join our team:

Apply

Interested candidates may apply online for individual positions through our Careers page.

Review

Completed applications will be reviewed by a member of our Human Resources (HR) team to determine if the necessary qualifications are met.

Interview

Qualified applicants will be forwarded to the hiring manager for scheduling of an interview. Interviews may be conducted over the phone, in person, or as a video call. Teamwork is important to us, so interviews will not only include an HR representative, but also the hiring manager and additional department members.

Communication

We strive to maintain transparent communications with candidates throughout the application and hiring process. All applicants will receive an email to let them know whether or not they meet the qualifications of the position, and all interviewees will receive communication from an HR representative if they are not selected to advance beyond the first interview.

Offer

After all interviews are conducted, a conditional offer will be made to the selected candidate. After accepting the offer, said candidate will need to complete a physical, a background check, and a drug/alcohol test.

Certain Power Plant positions also require a pre-employement test. See below for more details.

Finalize

After passing those requirements, a candidate can discuss when to begin orientation. Again, communication is important to us throughout the hiring process. Therefore, all applicants will be notified of their results by email, whether or not they were selected for the position.
