Meet the Intern: Gage Heil

Prairie State is pleased to welcome Gage Heil as the Mechanical Engineering Intern this summer!

Gage studies mechanical engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (S&T). He chose this path because he’s always enjoyed math and science. Most of mechanical engineering is something that can be observed, which makes for a great fit with his visual learning style.

At S&T, Gage is involved in the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He plays intramural sports including flag football, volleyball, and soccer. Gage is also in the S&T honors college, and he enjoys hunting, fishing, weightlifting, and reading.

His past work experience includes a mechanical engineering internship at the Mississippi Lime Company, where he helped maintain daily operations and worked on projects and trials to improve overall efficiency.

Gage chose Prairie State after hearing about the positive opportunity from a former intern. He says, “I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge in the field of engineering and applying what I’ve learned in school to the real world.”

This fall, Gage will return to S&T to begin his senior year. His future goals include completing his bachelor’s degree and finding a well-paying job that interests him.
