Meet the Intern: Taylor Demick

Prairie State is excited to welcome Taylor Demick as the Electrical Engineering Intern this summer!

Taylor studies electrical engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC). He chose this major because he has always loved playing with electrical components. He also has an interest in the electric car industry, as society begins to move toward electric vehicles.

At SIUC, Taylor is the President of the Saluki Baja Racing Team, part of a Baja Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) team. He is also the Vice President of the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics Student Council. Taylor loves to do things outdoors including fishing, hiking, camping, and boating.

Taylor chose Prairie State because it is close to home and he feels like he will gain hands-on experience within the electrical engineering field. He said, “I am looking forward to learning more about power generation and distribution, and how a power plant can send energy to one’s home.”

This fall, Taylor will return to SIUC for his senior year. He plans to graduate with his bachelor’s degree in spring of 2025. He then plans to return to school to earn a master of science in electrical engineering, with future goals to start a career in the power generation/distribution field.
