Prairie State Interns Tour Energy Campus

On May 30, Prairie State’s 2018 Intern Class took tours of both the power plant and the mine.

During the power plant tour, they learned about the process in which turbines generate electrical energy, and the state-of-the-art environmental technology in place.

Their underground mine tour took them 250 feet below ground.  During this tour, they saw first-hand how the mine operates and watched the continuous miner in action; this incredible machine cuts 12 tons of coal in 30 seconds.

Our interns learned a lot, and they are off to a great start this summer!
