Meet the Intern: Alyssa Lohmann

Prairie State Generating Company is excited to welcome Alyssa Lohmann as the public relations intern for the summer of 2018.

Lohmann was born and raised in Nashville, Illinois.  She is a senior studying marketing at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.  Her interest in marketing grew from her experience in sales at the Buckle.  While working there, Lohmann promoted the store through social media, as well as participating in other promotional events.

“Public relations and event planning interests me because it is an opportunity to connect with people in your company and in your community,” Lohmann said.  This public relations internship opportunity appealed to her because of PSGC’s online presence and active public relations department.  “Prairie State has an impressive presence on social media, and they host events both for the company and in the community.”  She is excited to work with Alyssa Harre in planning and hosting these events.

In her free time, Lohmann coaches the Nashville Community High School Dance Team.  Her love of dance began at a young age and continued into college, where she joined the Saluki Shakers dance team her freshman year.  As a coach, she enjoys teaching technical skills to young dancers and creating routines for them to perform.

So far, Lohmann has enjoyed the opportunity to work in a new industry.  Before joining the team at Prairie State, she had never been on an underground mine tour.  Lohmann is looking forward to more new experiences, and she will enjoy sharing these experiences with visitors.

Following this internship, Lohmann will return to SIU for one year to complete her degree.  In the future, she hopes to find a challenging career in event planning and advertising.
