Since 1996, National Safety Month has been observed every June to raise awareness about safety and promote practices that prevent injuries and save lives, both at work and in everyday life. This initiative, led by the National Safety Council (NSC), highlights the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths, aiming to create a culture of safety across all environments.
Each week of the month focuses on a specific safety theme to educate and prepare individuals and organizations for different types of hazards: continuous improvement, employee engagement, roadway safety, mental health and wellbeing.
To support these efforts, the NSC offers free resources such as safety posters, articles, and toolkits to help businesses and communities implement effective safety programs. The goal of National Safety Month is to reduce injuries and fatalities by increasing public awareness, encouraging proactive safety behaviors, and providing the tools needed to make safety a priority every day.
