National Fire Prevention Week 2018

In August, Prairie State hosted 11 members of the Marissa, Tilden, and St. Libory fire departments for a tour.  The power plant has started planning quarterly tours for members of local volunteer fire departments to familiarize them with the layout of the plant and the fire protection systems that are in place.

This tour was led by Prairie State shift supervisor, Rob Soderlund, former fire chief of Sparta.  In the morning, fire department members learned about locations of fire hydrants, potential hazards, and sprinkler systems.  These tours ensure open communications between Prairie State and local first responders.

October 7-13 is National Fire Prevention Week.  This year’s theme is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.”  Please visit the National Fire Protection Association website to learn more about preventing and preparing for fires. Prairie State appreciates the dedication and service of all local fire departments and first responders.
