Meet the Intern: Tyler Lunning

Prairie State is pleased to welcome Tyler Lunning as the Mechanical Maintenance Intern this summer!

Tyler attends Illinois College where he majors in mechanical engineering. He chose this career field because he enjoys working with mechanics. “I want to be working in the field and the plant doing all kinds of different mechanical maintenance and fixing things. I love to solve problems, and all of that seemed interesting when looking into this position.”

While attending Illinois College, Tyler is a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and captain of the men’s soccer team. He often coordinates events outside of practice for the team to partake in while also pursuing his degree. In his free time, he likes to golf, hang out with friends, watch sports, and spend time with his family. Previously he worked at Chick-fil-A as trainer for three years.

Tyler chose Prairie State because he wants to take that next step before starting his career. “I am hoping to get my foot in the door and weigh my options for what career I want to pursue. When I graduate next year, I need to know what I am expected to do and what to do to get a job. So far, my position has been super fun, and the maintenance work is pretty cool.”

Tyler will return to Illinois College in the fall to complete his mechanical engineering degree. His goal after he graduates is to acquire a position at Prairie State or another engineering position.
