Prairie State is pleased to welcome Matthew McLaughlin as the Electrical Maintenance Intern this summer!
Matthew attends Ranken Technical College and is in the control systems technology program. He chose this major because Matthew enjoys hands on work and found his dad’s position as supervisor for electrical maintenance interesting. He says, “I like the hands-on work and being at the power plant allows me to work with others and learn from them.”
Matthew enjoys working on small projects that involve maintenance and technical attributes, to continue learning about this career field. He previously competed in dirt bike competitions and now enjoys riding in his free time.
He chose Prairie State because he wants to continue learning about the profession. “It will give me good experience for job placement after college. I want to learn some things I didn’t know and gain skills to improve in the electrical program at college.”
Matthew will return to Ranken Technical College in the fall to complete his senior year in the control systems program. His goal after he graduates is to acquire a position at Prairie State as an operator and work his way up.
