Meet the Intern: Rylie Manker

Prairie State is pleased to welcome Rylie Manker as the Accounting & Finance Intern this summer!

This fall, Rylie will be a senior at Murray State University, where she majors in accounting/finance. Knowing she wanted to major in business, Rylie chose the accounting course specifically after taking a few related classes. She decided to also major in finance to better understand how both sides work together and to have broader opportunities.

At Murray State, Rylie is the president of Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, the treasurer of the National Society of Leadership and Success, a member of the Murray State Accounting Society, and a member of the Murray State Horticulture Club. Her hobbies include hiking, boating, and anything else outdoors. A fun fact about Rylie is that she has a twin sister.

Her past work experience includes many types of jobs. Rylie was the spring 2023 Tax Intern at Alexander Thompson Arnold CPAs, where she assembled tax returns, answered phone calls, and waited on clients picking up their returns. In addition, she has worked as a salon shampooer, a waitress, a bank teller, and more.

Rylie found Prairie State when looking for a corporate accounting internship close to home for the summer. She knows a lot of people who have worked for the company; since she had heard nothing but good things, she did not hesitate to apply. She is excited about her summer, saying, “I look forward to learning a little of everything about what goes into corporate accounting and finance. After only doing public accounting, I’m excited to see how different corporate is!”

After graduating next spring, Rylie plans to work in public accounting for a few years to earn her CPA license. After that, her goal is to earn an MBA in forensic accounting and see where life takes her.
