Prairie State is pleased to welcome Connor Guttmann as the Mechanical Engineering Intern this summer!
Connor attends the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he majors in mechanical engineering. He decided on this major due to his family all being engineers. “I have always been interested in math and science. My whole family is full of engineers, but they were missing a mechanical one, so I tried to be a little different.”
Connor worked at a hardware store and Xtreme Paintball Park in high school for two and a half years. In his free time, he likes to go fishing and hang out with friends.
Connor chose Prairie State because he would like to gain work experience and understand mechanical engineering before graduating. “This is my first internship and first exposure to what mechanical engineering is going to be like. I knew generally what it would be like with my family’s experiences, but had no clue what mechanical engineers did. I just knew it would be fun!”
In the fall, Connor will return to Mizzou to complete his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in aerospace. He is excited to enter the work force and find a job in this career field!
