Meet The Intern: Dustin Bartnicki

Prairie State is pleased to welcome Dustin Bartnicki as our Mechanical Maintenance Intern this summer!

Dustin currently attends Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he will be a senior this fall. He chose mechanical engineering as a major because he enjoys working with various hands-on projects.

Outside of school, Dustin is involved in coaching track and basketball. He is the Girls’ Basketball Assistant Coach for Tamaroa/St. Bruno. Some of his hobbies include working on cars and trucks in the evening, along with watching basketball, baseball, or other sports.

In addition to coaching, he has worked for Ray’s Auto Body in Tamaroa and Meier Chevrolet Buick in Nashville. At both locations, he was responsible for disassembly and reassembly of vehicles.

Dustin chose Prairie State because it was a good fit for his interests. “The functions of the plant go hand and hand with my degree, and I just enjoy working with my hands. I’m looking to gain as much knowledge as I can in this internship, and I’d like to apply that information to my everyday life.”

His future plans include graduating this fall with his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Dustin’s career goal is to take part in engineering cars.
