Meet the Intern: Blake Maes

Prairie State is excited to welcome Blake Maes as the Mine Warehouse Intern this summer!

Blake is currently studying marketing at Quincy University, where he will return as a junior this fall. He chose to study marketing because he has always been successful with sales, whether it be fundraising for his sports teams or school events, selling things people need in the classroom, or selling equipment at games.

At Quincy, Blake plays baseball on their NCAA Division II school team. This previous season, his team was ranked as high as #1 in the nation from multiple news outlets and media. In addition to playing baseball, Blake spends his free time working out, golfing, and spending time with his girlfriend and his family.

Blake has a wide variety of work experience. His landscaping experience includes mowing grass, trimming bushes and trees, and more. He has also served as an umpire for little league baseball games. Last summer, Blake helped in the Prairie State safety department.

His choice to intern at Prairie State is due to the work environment and the people he worked with. Blake is ready for his new experiences this summer, saying, “I am looking forward to learning how to drive a forklift and learning more about the innerworkings of a warehouse.”

Blake’s education will wrap up in the spring of 2025, when he will graduate with his bachelor’s degree in marketing. He hopes to use his marketing expertise to open his own business one day.
