Meet the Intern: Logan Braundmeier

Prairie State is excited to welcome Logan Braundmeier as our Plant Safety Intern this summer.

Logan is originally from Aviston, Illinois. She is attending Murray State University as a graduate student. Her major is environmental health and safety, which she chose after showing interest in environmental studies classes. “I was interested in learning about the health and safety of those in the workplace and the environment that surrounds them. I chose this specific major because of my desire to make a difference in employee safety and environmental quality.”

Logan currently plays softball at Murray State University. In past summers, she has worked for the Maschhoffs in Carlyle as a Procurement Specialist, supplying their farms located across the Midwest. Through the winter of 2020, she worked at Eagle Technology Group as an Associate Systems Analyst. During her time as a graduate student, she has worked as the social media graduate assistant for the Occupational Safety and Health Department.

Logan chose Prairie State for a few reasons. She appreciates that the location is close to her home and the company’s dedication to employee safety over everything. She also mentioned that this type of industry is something different than any of her other previous work settings.

When asked what excites her about this opportunity, she said, “I am looking forward to learning and adapting to a real work environment. I am also eager to look deeper into the process and details as a safety specialist.”

In the future, Logan plans to graduate in May 2022 with a master’s degree in environmental health and safety. She then hopes to begin her safety career and earn designations as a Graduate Safety Practitioner and Certified Safety Professional. After gaining years of experience, her goal is to become a director of environmental health and safety.
