Meet the Intern: Jeff Hightower

Prairie State is pleased to welcome Jeff Hightower as our Accounting and Finance Intern this summer.

Jeff is from Mascoutah, Illinois. He recently earned his B.S. in Accounting from Quincy University, where he was involved on the baseball team all four years.

Jeff’s past work experience includes Quincy Relic, Inc., an auction company at which he worked last summer and throughout the past school year. During high school, he worked at his family-owned meat processing plant.

Before this internship, Jeff heard about Prairie State from his father, a power plant technician. This made him eager to learn more about the plant operations and coal mining. “After my interview, I knew this was the place for me.”

This summer, Jeff is looking forward to getting hands-on experience in accounting, as well as learning more about how the internal financial processes work. He will also be involved in internal auditing, project-organizing, and recording 401k information.

Following his internship, he hopes to finish graduate school and start sitting for the CPA exam next summer. In the future, Jeff would like to perform audits for a public firm.
