Meet the Intern: Evan Langley

Prairie State Generating Company is pleased to welcome Evan Langley as a mechanical engineering intern for the summer of 2018.

From Farina, Illinois, Langley is a mechanical engineering major; in the fall, he will be returning for his senior year at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale (SIU-C).  “I am interested in mechanical engineering because I enjoy problem solving and learning about continuous developments in the field.”  Last summer, Langley was a customer solutions intern at Big Dutchman in Michigan.

Langley has been familiar with PSGC since the beginning.  His uncle designed the boiler, and his father worked on the construction team.  He saw PSGC at a career fair in the spring, which prompted him to apply for this internship.

“I am excited to be working with experienced plant employees and learning invaluable knowledge about power production and engineering.”  This summer, he will be designing a system to hold the burners during outages, among other various engineering projects.

After completing his final year at SIU-C, Langley plans on pursuing a career in mechanical engineering, either in the power generation industry or the automotive industry.
