Meet the Intern: Thomas Wojtowicz

Prairie State is pleased to welcome Thomas Wojtowicz as the Electrical I/C Maintenance Intern this summer!

Thomas studies electrical engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (S&T). His curiosity of the field was sparked after taking a few electronics classes in high school. He found it interesting how electricity works, and then decided he wanted to major in electrical engineering to learn more.

Thomas is a part of the fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) and is involved in Catholic Youth Ministry in Nashville, IL. He has worked at Diedrich Implement in Nashville as a shop hand; his responsibilities included mowing, delivering tractors and equipment, assisting the mechanics, and detailing tractors. He enjoys lifting weights and spending time with his family and friends, and he has a Golden Retriever named Duke.

Thomas chose Prairie State because he wanted to learn more about coal-fired power plants. He thought this internship would be a good opportunity to gain experience working on electrical parts and learning how they work outside of the classroom. He says, “I am looking forward to gaining hands-on experience in the field and learning more about the power plant and how it operates.”

Thomas will return to S&T this fall to begin his sophomore year. His future plans include completing his bachelor’s degree and going on to earn a master’s degree. After graduation, he hopes to land a job at a power plant.
