Meet the Intern: Chase Daugherty

Prairie State is pleased to welcome Chase Daugherty as one of our Electrical Maintenance Interns this summer.

Chase is from Marissa, Illinois, and he is studying industrial electricity at Southwestern Illinois College. Chase enjoys hunting and fishing. Each year, he participates with the Marissa High School Athletic Department’s annual food drive.

Chase has worked at the Marissa golf course over the past two years, and he previously performed road construction in Marissa. Living in the area, Chase was able to see the plant being built. He heard about the internship opportunities from his dad, who currently works in operations at Prairie State. He was also told that Prairie State is a great place to work, so he was excited to apply.

Chase is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience through seeing large-scale electrical operations. He is enjoying working with experienced employees. “Being able to watch and learn from these employees is beneficial, and it is more helpful than learning from presentations.”

Chase will complete his degree next spring, and he will then look for a full-time job. He would enjoy working somewhere close to home, but he is also open to industrial facilities in the St. Louis or Belleville areas.
