PSGC Souper Bowl V a Huge Success

For the fifth-straight year, Prairie State Energy Campus continued its annual PSGC Souper Bowl program with this year’s Souper Bowl V. PSEC starts the campaign every year the Monday following the Super Bowl by collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations to support the Combating Hunger on Weekends, or CHOW, program at Okawville Grade School and the Marissa Food Pantry.

This year, PSGC’s donations totaled $1,875. The campus began delivering the collected goods on Friday, Feb. 23 and completed the deliveries on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

CHOW was established at nearby Okawville Grade School when parents and teachers noticed that children enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program were not receiving meals at home over the weekend. The program gives children enrolled a bag of ready to eat foods at the end of each school week.
