Prairie State Recognizes Veteran Employees

The Prairie State Generating Company (PSGC) annually celebrates Veterans Day by recognizing the great service and sacrifice that veterans have made for our country and our freedom. Each year on November 11, the energy campus hosts ceremonies to honor employees who have served in the military.

“We are grateful to live in a country that grants us certain freedoms, especially when there are so many in the world without them,” said Don Gaston, President and CEO of PSGC. “We thank our veterans for bravely doing what they were called to do, so that we can safely do the things we are free to do.”

There are 103 veterans employed across Prairie State’s mine, power plant, and corporate office; this represents over 15% of the total employee base. Prairie State’s employee veterans have served in every branch of the military, with 34 Army veterans, 33 Navy veterans, 18 Marine veterans, 16 Air Force veterans, one National Guard veteran, and one Coast Guard veteran.

Prairie State is thankful to each and every one of our veterans for their brave service, and we are pleased to honor them each year with a small token of our appreciation.
