Prairie State is excited to welcome Noah Feldt as the Mechanical Engineering Intern for the summer!
Noah is from Mascoutah, Illinois, and is currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. He also earned an associate of arts and science degree from Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC). Noah is entering his sophomore year in the fall at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
From an early age, Noah showed an interest in engineering and problem-solving. Whether he was building toy train sets or exploring how things worked, he developed a passion for hands-on learning and data-driven thinking that ultimately led him toward a career in engineering. “I’ve always had an engineering-focused mindset,” Noah shared. “I’m very data-driven, and I enjoy understanding how systems work and finding ways to improve them.”
Noah was drawn to Prairie State because of the company’s commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for students entering the industry. He appreciated the chance to gain real-world experience while learning directly from experienced professionals in the field. “One thing I really like about Prairie State is that they are willing to give opportunities to people without a lot of prior industry experience,” Noah said. “It’s a great environment to learn, grow, and get your foot in the door.” Throughout the summer, Noah hopes to strengthen his communication and leadership skills while working alongside employees from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels.
Outside of school and work, Noah enjoys traveling, hiking, and music. He plays guitar and has been playing the violin since he was nine years old. He also is a member of his school’s track team and hopes to join several clubs this fall.
Looking ahead, Noah hopes to build a career that combines engineering, technology, and performance analysis. He is particularly interested in using software to analyze airflow and efficiency in vehicles, turbines, and aircraft systems. During his internship, Noah plans to absorb as much knowledge as possible from the Prairie State maintenance team while contributing ideas that can help improve equipment performance and operational efficiency.
We’re excited to have Noah here this summer and look forward to seeing all he accomplishes during his internship experience!
