Meet the Intern: Lukas Ellis

Prairie State is excited to welcome Lukas Ellis as an Electrical I/C Maintenance Intern this summer!

Lukas will be entering his second year at Ranken Technical College this fall, where he studies electrical automation and control systems technology. In high school, he played basketball and baseball. Lukas was also an FFA officer.

For the past four years, Lukas has worked on a family-owned dairy farm. He milks, feeds, and cares for the cows, as well as helping plant and harvest when needed. He also bales hay in the summer. In his free time, he enjoys duck hunting, fishing, and working on vehicles.

Lukas chose Prairie State because he had always been curious about the operation of coal-fired power plants; he grew up hearing about them from his father and grandfather. Lukas said, ā€œIā€™m looking forward to understanding how a power plant operates and how much goes into making a plant run efficiently and sustainably.ā€

This spring, Lukas will earn his associate degree. He hopes to begin his career in a field similar to that of his internship.
