Meet the Intern: Brooke Hasty

Prairie State is pleased to welcome Brooke Hasty as our Human Resources Intern this summer.

Brooke is from Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. She will be a senior this fall at the University of Central Missouri (UCM), where she is a business management major with a minor in marketing. At UCM, Brooke is involved in the Delta Zeta sorority and Phi Beta Lambda. She is also an orientation leader, a Mule Team Leader, and an on-campus student worker.

Brooke found Prairie State after hearing about it from one of our other interns, Tess Bauman. Following further research, Brooke found that she loved Prairie State’s mission and decided to apply.

She is looking forward to getting more experience in Human Resources, as this aligns with her future career goals. Brooke believes her experience as an orientation leader has led her to enjoy recruiting and training, and she wants to create a positive environment for future employees to come into. “Since I just went through the onboarding process myself, I am excited to see how the internal side of that process works.”

To assist in training, Brooke is using a software called VYOND, which allows the user to create animated characters that can be used in videos or presentations. She is hoping this will convey information in a more engaging and fun way.

In the future, Brooke will complete her degree and find a job, possibly for a nonprofit organization. Her interest in this sector arose from one of her classes at UCM, in which she created and sold shirts to benefit a local animal shelter. Brooke would love for her future career to include recruiting, training, and marketing for a nonprofit organization.
