Prairie State Generating Company is excited to welcome Britta Moyer as the environmental intern for the summer of 2018.
From Alton, IL, Moyer is an environmental engineering major at Missouri S&T. She is involved on campus with the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and the trap and skeet club. She has spent the past two summer breaks interning with Sheppard, Morgan & Schwaab, Inc. There, she gained experience with civil surveying, as well as the EPA paperwork needed for building construction.
Moyer participates in shooting events at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex nearby in Sparta. When looking for internships online, she immediately recognized Prairie State. “I am interested in learning about the power generation industry because my classes usually focus on water treatment facilities.”
This summer, Moyer will gain exposure to the environmental regulations that Prairie State adheres to and the processes by which the campus stays in compliance with those regulations. “It’s awesome to see things I have learned about in class being applied in this internship.” She is excited to be learning something new almost every day at Prairie State.
Moyer will return to S&T in the fall to complete her final semester. She hopes to graduate with a career lined up, possibly in the power generation industry.
