Meet the Intern: Brayden Menke

Prairie State is excited to welcome Brayden Menke as our Coal Combustion Residuals Intern this summer.

Brayden is from Highland, Illinois. He currently attends Mizzou as a civil engineering major with a minor in construction management. His interest in this field arose in high school, where he took an engaging, project-based class in architecture and civil engineering. Two summers ago, Brayden was a Civil Engineering Intern at The Delta Companies.

Since his parents are originally from Sparta, Brayden is familiar with the area. When visiting Sparta, they would drive on County Highway 12, and he saw Prairie State’s power plant being built.

Brayden is looking forward to gaining knowledge about civil engineering and construction. Some of his tasks revolve around Prairie State’s monofill, where he is determining logical designs for fly ash storage. He will also conduct testing to ensure environmental compliance.

Following his internship, Brayden will complete his degree and graduate in December 2020. He is open to multiple future career options, as long as they are related to construction.
