Prairie State Generating Company is pleased to welcome Amelia Coyne as the information technology intern for the summer of 2018.
From Belleville, Illinois, Coyne attends Truman State University, where she majors in both computer science and statistics. She is involved in the Association for Computing Machinery and Tru Women in Computer Science. Coyne is also a member of the Truman State women’s soccer team.
Through her research on the company, Coyne thought this internship and Prairie State would be a good fit for her. “This opportunity excited me because I knew that I would learn about many different aspects of IT.”
This summer, Coyne will be working in different areas on campus each week. “This internship is unique because it is very broad; it covers many areas of the IT field.” She has already learned about areas such as network infrastructure, firewalls, servers, and applications.
At the conclusion of this internship, Coyne will return to Truman State for two more years. After graduation, she would like to experience a few years of working before deciding whether or not to continue her education. Her ideal career would be in either IT or data science.
