Intern Update: Chase Daugherty

Electrical Maintenance Intern, Chase Daugherty, has spent his summer at Prairie State working with electrical calibrating, wiring, and more.

Chase has gained hands-on experience by changing out electrical components and devices across the plant. Since maintenance needs vary, his job duties change daily. He has learned a lot about the power industry and the electrical systems in place at Prairie State.

Just in the short time he has been here, Chase has been hands-on several times with work orders for preventive maintenance. Along with replacing motors, he has completed calibrations of coal feeders, valves, and transmitters.

Chase has enjoyed this internship; he has gotten to meet and learn from a multitude of excellent employees. His favorite part of working at Prairie State has been seeing his effort result in a properly repaired component.

Prior to this summer, Chase was unsure if he would prefer power plant maintenance or electrical construction. After this internship, he is confident that he wants to work in electrical maintenance.

Chase will continue his education in industrial electricity at Southwestern Illinois College, and he will complete his degree next spring.
