On July 27, Prairie State Generating Company (PSGC) awarded five $1,000 scholarships to children of PSGC employees through its annual scholarship program.
The recipients were Grace Geralds, Jaden Hinnerichs, Hailey Keys, Alexandria McFadden, and Abby Sandheinrich. The five were chosen from a field of applicants based on their academic achievements, leadership skills, work ethic, community service, and extracurricular activities. The PSGC Scholarship Program was founded in 2015 and has awarded $45,000 in scholarship funds to PSGC children and grandchildren that are seeking higher education.
Grace Geralds is the daughter of Kelley and Matthew Geralds of Marissa. Recently graduated, she plans to attend Murray State University this fall to study secondary English education. Grace has been involved with 4-H, the St. Clair 4-H Ambassadors, FFA, basketball videography, softball, theater, journalism, yearbook, Beta Club, and National Honor Society.
Jaden Hinnerichs is the daughter of Kory and Danielle Hinnerichs of Steeleville. Recently graduated, she plans to study biology this fall at Greenville University. Jaden’s involvement throughout high school includes volleyball, FFA, FBLA, FCA, science club, art society, and student activity board. She was also inducted into the Steeleville Honors and Achievements Society.
Hailey Keys is the daughter of Kenny and Jennifer Keys of Dupo. Recently graduated, she plans to study social work at Missouri State University this fall. In high school, Hailey was involved with ROTC, drill team, student voice committee, student school board, basketball, softball, and student council. In addition, she is editor-in-chief of the yearbook, class president, and volunteers with Special Olympics and city cleanup.
Alexandria McFadden is the daughter of Andrea Johnson of Sparta. She attends Sparta High School, where she will return this fall as a Junior. Alexandria participates in volleyball, golf, FLBA, and Lifesavers. She will be the drum major in band this coming year, and she was sophomore class president on student council.
Abby Sandheinrich is the daughter of Nick and Tonya Sandheinrich of Marissa, and she is currently studying radiologic technology at Southwestern Illinois College. She will continue with her sophomore year of studies this fall. Abby serves as a hospital volunteer to gain clinical experience. She is also a member of the Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary, through which she serves the community of St. Libory.
