Yesterday, in honor of Earth Day, Prairie State employees volunteered to plant milkweed and other wildflowers at various locations across campus. Milkweed is the only plant that Monarch butterfly larvae will eat; therefore, it is vital to the survival of these butterflies. We thank our volunteers for their efforts to restore the Monarch butterfly population and ensure the species’ future sustainability.
