Meet the Interns: Linda Lee

The Prairie State Generating Company is excited to welcome Linda Lee as a safety intern for the summer of 2017.

Lee, who was born as Ning Lee in Taiwan, is an occupational safety and health major at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. Lee moved to the United States six years ago to continue her education – her college in Taiwan has a student exchange program with Murray State.

This is Lee’s first internship and she relishes the opportunity to get some hands on experience here at Prairie State. Lee said that she is hoping to develop her skills as much as possible during this internships, so that she will be better prepared for her future career as a safety professional.

At Murray State, the occupational safety and health program is separated into three tracks: safety, environmental safety, and industrial hygiene. Lee has not decided what her focus will be at Murray, but she hopes that the well-rounded experience she will receive at Prairie State will help her decide what to focus on.

“I feel like this is a really good place to learn things,” Lee said. “Each department has different areas they need to focus on. After talking with one of my supervisors, I was told that we will have to work with each department to see how they do things. That’s really interesting and I’m so excited about that.”
