Communications Intern, Madisyn Wienstroer, has been completing a variety of projects within the department. She has been conducting interviews for the Meet the Interns and Intern Update articles, writing stories, creating graphics for upcoming holidays and events, and assisting in organizing events. Each day brings new tasks and projects for Madisyn to work on.
She has written several articles for Prairie State’s social media pages, her favorite being the Meet the Intern and Intern Update articles. “I love getting to know people and having the opportunity to learn about their internships. To accurately portray their experiences through my writing has been really fun!” She also helped her supervisor in organizing the 2025 PSGC employee golf outing, mine recruitment contest, and scholarship banquet. Madisyn is currently working on a plant safety video that will be shown to visitors during plant tours, auditing HR files, and creating new graphics for upcoming events.
“I’ve learned so much in this position. Uploading the posts and graphics I created to online platforms like WordPress, Sprout Social, and the company’s intranet was a valuable skill I developed during this internship. I have also improved my time management, increased my creativity, and strengthened my overall corporate communication skills.” She knows she wouldn’t have grown as much without the support of her supervisor, Alyssa Kreger, who has made her transition into the corporate world smooth and effortless. “I know I can ask her anything and learn from her answers. The corporate building creates a great environment that I enjoy coming into every day.”
Madisyn’s main goal during her internship is to improve each day and integrate what she has learned into every new project she takes on. “Each day I get to create something new, and the position is always challenging me.” She still plans to pursue a career in strategic communications through the journalism program.
