Energy Learning Exchange Tour
A group of middle and high school teachers, enrolled in the Energy Learning Exchange (ELE) program, toured the underground mine and power plant at Prairie State today. The program is designed to help teachers understand major principles of energy with real-world applications. Teachers will utilize the knowledge gained during today's tour to develop and submit energy lesson plans that will be available for teachers statewide.
Illinois State University led the creation of one of eight statewide ELEs which has been developed from a public-private partnership of universities, community colleges, K-12 schools, companies, labor unions, and other public and private organizations and individuals. The mission is to further Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning, preparing students for career pathways in energy and provide Illinois companies with a superior energy workforce. Prairie State was thrilled to host this group of educators!
