AMP Members Tour Prairie State
Representatives from several of American Municipal Power's (AMP) member communities visited campus on November 3 for an underground mine and power plant tour. The group is pictured above in front of the turbine with Tom Kordick, Prairie State's Vice President of Generation (far left) and Randy Short, Prairie State's COO (far right). AMP is one of Prairie State's nine Owners, serving 129 member communities across 6 states.
AMP is a nonprofit corporation that owns and operates electric facilities with the purpose of providing generation, transmission and distribution of electric power and energy to its members. By coordinating, negotiating and developing power-supply options and interconnection agreements, AMP is able to purchase wholesale electric power and energy and sell it to members at rates based on the cost and dispatch fees.
